Charity Spotlight: Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation
At Sold Edmonton, one of our passions is charity and community involvement. When we are so fortunate, we want to spread goodness and kindness around. And, although we love a great many wonderful foundations and groups (you can see the complete list of places we have worked with here) our current spotlight is on the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation.
It’s hard to think of a time when this life saving foundation wasn’t part of our community. However, did you know, it has only existed for eighteen years. Before that, the Northern Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation was advocating for a children’s hospital in Edmonton since 1978. This was a long time coming, and we are fortunate to have the Stollery.
The Stollery got its name from two of the major (and early) donors who finally made the children’s hospital possible, Bob and Shirley Stollery. Since its opening in October 2001, the Stollery has done a fantastic job of living up to its mission of giving kids “the best chance to live a long and healthy life.” That work continues as it expands to a child and youth mental health center that is projected to open in 2024. This facility will help our youth receive mental health and substance abuse treatment in our community.
The Stollery is an important part of Edmonton and the surrounding area. If you want to support them, go to https://www.stollerykids.com/ways-to-give.aspx
