The “We Bought a House!” Moment

“Eeeek! We bought a house!”

Aside from getting the keys and possession day, this is often one of the most exciting moments of the process: When you take the conditions off the contract and finalize the sale. The key thing here that we want you to know is this: Take time to celebrate!

There will be waiting, there will be packing, there will be other things to do and line up (we’ll talk about that in [the waiting] blog) but right now it is so important to stop and take in what you have accomplished! You’ve saved the money, did the research, searched and searched, negotiated, jumped through bank hoops, signed more paperwork than you could have imagined, and YOU MADE IT!! Seriously, CONGRATULATIONS!

Now a couple of pro-tips:

Stop Looking at Listings

1) Stop looking at other houses

Make sure your “auto searches” are shut down with your Realtor® and stop looking online for places. Give yourself a break and don’t allow second guessing. You made a well-educated and focused decision. Lean into that.

2) Ask your agent what to expect next

They will be able to guide you through what happens from this point until possession. There isn’t a ton to do, but there are still things that will need to happen for possession day to go smoothly, so ensure you have an understanding of what that is.

And on that note, make sure to catch our next blog on just that: The Waiting!
